One Hour Tan - Black Magic Tanning Mousse Review

Anyone else get completely baffled when they enter the fake tanning isle of a beauty store? I’ve tried and tested my fair share so I can’t imagine what it’s like for fake tan virgins.

Don't get me wrong I'm no ‘tanning queen’ and you won’t find me with muddy paws. I prefer using fake tans that are natural and give you that sun-kissed 10 days in the sun look.

When it comes to buying fake tans I typically stick to the budget brands, especially if I’m using them on a casual basis however if I have a special event or a night out planned I prefer to use a luxury tanner that will give me a rich more bronzed look.

Black Magic Tan is Australia's leading tanning brand and its now available in the UK and Ireland. It's used by many professionals and celebrities so me being me, i wanted to know what all the fuss was about…

I’d say this tan is for those who want an instant deep bronzed look without the waiting around as it driest quickly and can develop in under an hour. It’s perfect for a 'party tan' or special occasions with its bronze liquid goddess in a bottle.

Development Time
Unlike some tanners that require to be left on for around 6 hours this can develop in under 1 hour and dries quite quickly on skin so there’s no waiting around.

Black Magic Tan is a green based tanner that leaves a perfect deep chocolate brown shade with no orange in site.

The product is odourless so it doesn’t really have much of a scent at all (it is also alcohol free).

I used the Black Magic Tan tanning mitt which has a velvet like feel however its soft touch meant that I couldn’t buff the product into the skin and it only aided in spreading the tan around before it rapidly dried. So I swapped it for my regular tanning mitt which has a rough sponge like top, the product was easier to buff in however you do need to be quick as it doesn’t mess around with drying! But all in all the product eventually buffed in perfectly without any scent, tackiness or patches and after 1 hour I was left with a deep, natural bronzed glow.

For me the tan lasted around 6 days before it became ‘scaly’ and I needed to exfoliate.

I'd give the tan a strong 7.5/10

Healthy Black Forest Chocolate Muffins (*)

Christmas time is all about spending time with family and indulging in your favourite treats but what if you could make them guilt free and just as tasty? Indigo Herbs set me the challenge to create a festive recipe inspired by a handful of their gluten free, dairy free and organic ingredients. Of course its Christmas time so i couldn't not include a chocolate treat, although it is a healthy option being 85% cocoa! This incredibly tasty chocolate-cherry-chunk muffin (say that after a couple Bailey's) and tahini chocolate frosting works perfectly as a guilt free treat before, during or after the festive period.

So here it is, my personal Black Forest Chocolate Muffin Recipe:

Black Forest Muffin
1 heap tbsp Almond Butter
1 heap tbsp Coconut Oil
1/4 cup Coconut Sugar
1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
1 Egg
½ cup Soy Milk
¼ cup Coconut Flour
1 heap tbsp Baking Powder
1/3 cup Cocoa Powder
¼ cup Dark Chocolate Chunks
1/4 cup Glacier Cherries

1. Preaheat the oven to 180c
2. Mix the almond butter, coconut oil, vanilla extract and coconut sugar in a bowl
3. Add 1 egg and fold the mixture whilst adding the soy milk
4. Stir in the cocoa powder, baking powder and coconut flour until mixture is thick and even
5. Chop both the glacier cherries and dark chocolate into small chunks and fold into the mixture
6. The consistency should be similar to a thick mouse if it isn't add a little more coconut flour and an extra pinch of baking powder.
7. Generously spoon the mixture into each cupcake case and place in the oven for 20 minutes (be generous as the mixture won't rise too much due to the density of the ingredients)
8. Once the cupcakes are baked, check them are ready by poking them with a tooth pick that should come away clean
9. Once cooled, set aside to make the frosting/ topping

Tahini Black Forest Chocolate Frosting
½ cup Sesame Tahini
1/3 cup Cocoa Powder
1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
¼ cup Soy Milk

1. Add all the ingredients into a bowl and stir rapidly to beat away lumps before folding gently
2. The consistency should be smooth and thick. If the ingredients fall easily off a spoon add a touch of coconut flour to thicken the mixture. If you have a little more of a sweet tooth add a splash more of vanilla extract.
3. Store in the fridge for 10 minutes before adding the topping to muffins and smoothing over with a spoon
4. To decorate the muffins add more chopped chunks of chocolate and finish with a glacier cherry
5. Store in the fridge and for best results serve chilled however they are just as delicious at room temperature.

The Press Tent Event - Manchester

A couple of weeks ago I attended The Press Tent Blogger Bizarre event at Yard and Coop in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

A collective mix of blogger bizarre stalls such as Rock on Ruby and What Emma Did Boutique, food from Yard & Coop, cocktails from Luxardo and Licor43, fashion brands such as Style Skin and Twin Face Jewellery, beauty bars from Cake Cosmetics and Jen Nail Tech, workshops by Dom & Ink and calligraphy from Artsy Nibs.

It was a fun filled evening that meant we could discover new brands, make a purchase or two, sample cocktails, chow down on Yard & Coops tasty grub and take part in some fun and unique workshops… what’s not to love?

Not only did I have a lovely time catching up with some familiar faces but it was also great to meet some new bloggers, the people behind the brand and also discover The Press Tent’s first ever Blogger Review Box! Here's what i think...

Honey Propolis Cream Cleanser
A 2 in 1 cream cleanser containing Honey, Rapeseed oil, British Propolis, Beeswax and Crambee seed to gently exfoliate and remove traces of makeup without drying out the skin. I’ve used the Propolis cleanser before and its perfect for when your skin needs a ‘deep cleanse’ to calm any breakouts and leave the face feeling clean as it has antibacterial properties.

One of my favourite popcorn brands, I typically reach for the Coconut and Vanilla flavour or Sweet and Salty so it was great to discover a new flavour in my review box to try. Just like the other flavours I’ve tried its packed with a tasty punch of flavour and is low in fat and calories making it the perfect snack!

Rosie Fortescue Gel Polish
I’ve get to paint my talons with this gel look nail varnish however I love the neutral sky grey shade that has a wintery feel!

Hotel Chocolate Christmas Mess (which I devoured)
I accidently (on purpose) devoured these Christmassy, meringue and cinnamon filled treats as soon as I opened the box. They looked incredibly festive and tasted absolutely divine as the meringue covered white chocolate melted in your mouth to reveal a spicy cinnamon centre.

Nerd Wax Glasses Wax
I don’t actually wear glasses but I do have a pair of cheap aviator sunglasses that refuse to stay put so it’ll be great to try this out in Spring when my peepers require shading from the sun.

Peanut Hottie Drink
I’ve spotted this brand a number of times when I’ve been browsing the hot drink isles in my local supermarket so I was a little excited when I spotted it in the review box. An intensely nutty, creamy yet light and slightly salted drink that was delicious but in small quantities, Im actually thinking of baking with it!

Luxardo Amaretto Drink
One of my favourite rum based liquors, this tipple can only be described as a dose of wintery heaven. I actually sampled a number of cocktails at the event which included a splash of Luxardo and they were incredibly delicious. An almond based liquor that works incredibly well with coke, lemonade, as a mixer or in a hot drink!

Halo Deodorant Wipes
I’ve get to dry the Halo Deodorant Wipes out but they’ve packed away in my overnight bag. They’re very useful for festivals, long flights, days out or weekends away when you don’t want to carry around a liquids or want to be a little more discreet when freshening up!

Lypsyl Lip Balm
I’ve used Lypsyl balms before and they’re great for moisturising the lips as well as protecting them from that winery cold bite!

So? With Attitude Body Spray
A nostalgic product hidden away at the bottom of the review box, flash back 10 or 11 years to when every teen girl had one of these in their Jane Norman/ Morgan bag or P.E kit! The scent of the So? Attitude is actually quite grown up and sophisticated compared to the one I think I had when I was 14 which I believe was the So? Kiss Me!

Licor 43 Drink
A smooth vanilla and citrus liquor that is made up of 43 ingredients, again I sampled a couple of cocktails with a splash of Licor 43 and they were incredible. It gave the cocktail a smooth bite to some simple ingredients.

Less than 3 weeks until Christmas and I’m finally feeling the seasonal spirit. So, when Yankee Candle challenged me to celebrate their ‘Baby Its Fun Outside, Cosy Inside’ theme by creating my own cosy festive theme, I jumped at the chance to get involved in some Chritmassy fun.

For me, Christmas time is all about buying the fluffiest lounge wear, prepping my party nails, drinking copious amounts of tea or hot chocolate, watching nostalgic festive movies, lighting candles and generally enjoying being ‘cosy inside’.

From their Christmas Gift range I indulged in a pamper evening with their Melt Warmer Giftset, Twelve Melts Tube Gift Set, Winter Flurries Jar Holder and a Christmas Eve candle! I know my Mum would absolutely love these gifts so I’ll be taking them over on Christmas Eve for a scent filled few days.

The festive scents…
Sparkling Snow – A fresh, clean and natural scent that conjures up nostalgic memories of carefully unboxing glass baubles as a child
Christmas Eve – A warm scent of sugared fruit, fresh pine needles and a slight spice. Distinctively reminds me of putting the presents under the Christmas tree ready for the next day.
Christmas Garland – A fresh, seasonal scent with the distinctive aroma of freshly cut pine and tangy berries again bringing back that child hood memory of choosing the tree.
Icicles – A crisp clean and forest like scent with undertones of cinnamon, A cosy reminder of a cold white Christmas.
Snowflake Cookie – A deliciously festive scent with rich vanilla and sugary pink icing, a sweet reminder of all the treats and goodies to indulge in over the Christmas period.
Christmas Cookie - A rich, buttery and irresistible aroma of freshly baked cookies conjuring up fond memories of cookies and milk on Christmas Eve!
Spiced Orange – A ginger and fresh orange scent with notes of cinnamon that remind me oven dried orange slice decorations my mum would place into a beautifully decorated wreath.
Cranberry Ice – A cool, fresh and fruity scent that would be perfect for lighting upon serving mulled wine!
Angel Wings – A sugary flower petal scent that instantly smells familiar, an airy scent that strangely reminds me of packing away all the Christmas decorations.
Wild Fig – A rich and fruity aroma with a warming tang that instantly reminds me of baking desserts ready for Christmas Day.
Season of Peace – A cool, enchanting and musky scent that would be perfect lit on the 12th day after Christmas to freshen the home.
Candy Cane Lane – A creamy vanilla and zingy peppermint scent with undertones of fresh cookies. A beautiful reminder of my Nan and Grandads Christmas tree decorated with edible candy canes!
Black Cherry - A deep and deliciously sweet scent that would be perfect for relaxing on Boxing day.
