Fake Up To Wake Up Makeup

In an ideal world we would wake up every morning bright eyed, bushy tailed and ready for the day but for me that’s never so, I’m just not a morning person. No matter how cold I make my shower or how ‘awakening’ my face wash claims to be I just can’t shift that ‘lack of sleep’ look from my bare face.

That’s when we all need a little help from the trusty makeup drawer! Most days I tend to buffer in a lightly tinted moisturiser or BB cream with a touch of translucent powder to set and that be that but some days I need a little more help to give off that fresh faced look.

So to 'fake up to wake up' these are my go to products;

Rimmel Wake Up Concealer
A full coverage illuminating concealer containing peptides to aid in creating that anti-fatigue effect. The formula itself is a medium consistency that unlike moist concealers moisturises the skin and smooth’s in beautifully without creasing. This concealer is perfect for under foundation ( I’ve also heard the Wake Up Foundation is a winner too) or worn on its own as it blends into the natural tone of the skin incredibly well. The concealer itself can also be used to hide blemishes and/or imperfections but I don’t think the pigment is strong enough for full coverage of noticeable marks.

Bourjois Happy Light Concealer
A thick and creamy concealer with multi action use to brighten, conceal and also act as a primer base for powders (ie eyeshadows).  The best way to use this product is with your fingers as due to thick consistency its needs to be warmed to work well with the skin but on application perfectly smoothes over the skin to create a flawless finish. It’s a great product for an instant uplift to the under eyes and on the tops of the cheek bones just before applying your base and due to its tacky to powder formula it sticks around for a pretty long time.

Ginvera Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream
A new discovery of mine and a daily favourite, The Ginvera BB cream has a light – medium non greasy formula that on application blends into the skin effortlessly matching multiple skin tones almost exactly. The finish of this product although stated ‘matt’ is a more natural dewy finish that controls natural oils in the skin to let it breath. The product also contains premium green tea, hyaluronic acid and ginseng to protect the skin and infuse hydration that awakens the face and gives a fresh dewy finish. The feel of your skin after application of the product feels incredibly smooth and uplifted, its a great everyday base.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Pencil
One of the best kohl pencils I’ve purchased in a long time. The RImmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Pencil has a creamy consistency with high pigmentation. The shade of this pencil is the perfect nude tone to use along the water line. It opens up the eyes and makes them look slightly larger to create the perfect wide eyed look but in a natural ‘no makeup – makeup’ way.  Like most pencils used on the water line it doesn’t last all day but does still cling around the roots of the lashes clutching onto that fresh and awakened look.

Bourjois Poudre De Riz Illuminating Powder
The perfect multi use highlighting powder that is so finely milled and a flattering light pink/ cream shade that it sits looking incredibly natural on the skin. It can be used to highlight and lift the cheek bones, on top of your base for a dewy finish, in the corners of the eyes, across the cupids bow or even brushed across the eye lid. The pigment isn’t glittery nor contains shimmer but adds more of sheen to the skin.

Beautiful Movements Mineral Concealer
Beautiful Movements is a brand of mineral foundations, concealers, bronzers and eye shadows that are made from 100% pure minerals and skin calming formula. I find their foundations are perfect in the warm summer sun as they’re light, natural and waterproof.  The mineral concealer is as equally as impressive as all their other base powders with a natural smooth matt finish. The product itself leaves a flawless light finish that conceals imperfections and highlights the skin leaving a matt finish.

Kryolan Dermacolor Cover
This product is typically used to hide hyperpigmentation, tattoos and skin conditions that some want to conceal. Due to its thick consistency and waterproof finish (once powdered) it is the best concealer and my favourite product to use to ‘fake up to wake up’. The longevity of this product is insane as it can withstand water and still looks smooth, natural and in no way ‘cakey’.  I typically use this product for ‘night out’ makeup looks as it also works great to hide those blemishes, pigmentation, rosacea and also perfect to use a primer!
