Tis the season for Christmas cocktails! Whether you’ve planned to go on a night out with the girls, with work or with the other half it’s all about adding a festive touch to your makeup. Personally I’m not the biggest fan of bold black smoky shadows; my eyes are large, light and slightly rounded so this look never really suits me. I much prefer a more a classic 1940’s look with a liquid liner flick, contoured base and bold lip. But to add a festive twist on a classic makeup look you must add glitter or shimmer and ‘Santa Baby’ bold red lip!

Before I start any makeup routine I throw some moistuire onto my lips ready for the application of product at the end, in this case i used the Bodyshop Argan Solid Lip Oil to so by the time I've finished the makeup look my lips will be smooth and prepped for a pop of color.

To create the base of the makeup look I skipped my usual moisturiser and in placed used the Ginvera BB cream which blends into any skin tone beautifully as a tinted moisturiser. On top of this I used just one pump of Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in shade Vanille Vanille and lightly buffed this into the centre areas of my face. To hide those signs of fatigue I dabbed on a mix of shade D3 1/2 and D69 from the Kryolan DermaColor Cover palette which is typically used to cover excessive scarring, marks, hyper pigmentation and tattoos so you can imagine the incredible coverage which surprisingly isn’t cakey. To set the base I used the Rimmel Stay Matte powder which is a holy grail product of mine that I’ve been using since my teens. To finish of the look I lightly contoured my cheek bones, forehead and jaw line with the Nars Laguna bronzer to create a sharper look.

After base application I then shaped my eye brows using the Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Promade which I’ve reviewed >here<. This product has a creamy mousse consistency which on application has a matt finish that is not only waterproof but also budge proof. Using a dense, sharp angled brush you can create perfect bold and natural looking brows.

To create the eye makeup I used the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, applying shade ‘Foxy’ (cream matt shade) and the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Taupe on the lid. I then used the swapped back to the Naked 2 palette and used the shade ‘Tease’ (medium matt brown) in the crease of the lid along the lower lash line. To add a touch of sparkle I then (using my finger) dabbed on a touch of Fashionista eyeshadow in shade ‘Stylish’ which is a shimmering gold/ copper and cream shade which also works beautifully as a highlighter! To finish off the eye makeup I applied my ultimate liquid liner that I’ve used for years, the Bourjous Clubbing Liner. This formula just does not budge, smudge of dry out and due to its supers thin brush it’s really easy to create anything for a natural line to thicken lashes to a thin everyday flick and of course the classic bold winged liner.

Then after a couple coats of the Maxfactor False Lash effect mascara, a stipple of the Boots No7 Pop and Glow blush in Mango Sorbet on the apples of the cheeks and a splash of bold lip from the Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquer in shade Big Bang you’re good to go!.

This makeup style is definitely my go to ‘going out’ look. A ‘safe statement’ that looks incredibly glamorous and is super easy to create!
