If you’ve been a follower of my blog for a while you’ll know
I’m a huge believer of holistic treatments and using organic ingredients. Why
use a product that has a whole load of manmade chemicals swallowing up the
natural active ingredients that are in there to do the job? Don’t get me wrong I
use these types of products on a daily basis but if I want something less harsh
and a quick fix then I’ll always opt for organic products.
I was kindly given the opportunity by Old Wives Tail (a
small hair Care Company selling luxurious handmade haircare products online) to
review one of their products from their rather incredible hair care range. The products do not
contain any additives or chemicals, are completely vegan and 10% of profits go
to charities that save animals from testing… so of course I said yes!
The Clove & Jojoba Hair Mask treatment is part of the SOS Organic Anti-Hair Loss Mask range which might seem a
strange product for me to choose as I’m far from thinning at the roots but this
earthy product is also great for damaged/ brittle hair and dry scalp. Its anti-bacterial
properties aid in cleansing, hydrating and nourishing both the hair and head.
The product itself contains pure active ingredients such as;
fruit oil, avocado oil, lavender oil and clove which are naturally high in
vitamins, minerals and fatty acids. The hair mask is a thick silky butter that
upon application melts into a rich and indulgent hair oil and smells
incredible! The scent is a mix of minty fruit with a smoky shea butter aroma.
I’ve been using the mask once to twice a week massaging into
the scalp, smoothing it down towards the ends of my hair and leaving it
wrapped in a towel for an hour or so. This helps to improve hairs texture and intensely
nourish those dry and brittle hair strands that tend to snap and fray.
After an hour, shampoo the hair as normal and thoroughly
rinse (repeat if necessary to ensure the product is completely removed) then
use a tiny amount of conditioner just to the ends of the hair only. Easy!
This product is light weight and hydrating without leaving
the hair feeling or looking weighed down or greasy. I’ve used a number of hair masks in
my time and sometimes you’re left with that stiff, dry hair at the roots where
the product just hasn’t budged through washing. However (although the SOS Hair
Mask advises to thoroughly rinse the product out after use) because the product
turns into an oil it washes out incredibly easy without leaving any built up
product.
After using it twice a week I’ve noticed an added shine and
soft feel to my hair with the ends looking healthier and the scalp hydrated.
If you’re needing a more intense treatment, say after a
holiday from the sun and sea water or just from general environmental effects then
you can leave the product (wrapped in a towel) in overnight for it to heavily penetrate
the hair follicles, nourish the scalp and smooth out the ends.
The Old Wives Tail products are all; paraben free, sulphate
free, gluten free, vegan and vegetarian, cruelty free and completely organic.
With a reasonably price tag and impressive results you should check them out!
