Mineral Foundation in Honey Mist and Dusk
Mineral Concealer in Vanish (*)
Mineral Bronzer (*)

I’ve mentioned numerous amounts of times that I’ve swapped my holy grail Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation for a mineral powder and yes, I was pretty surprised I made this switch too.

I’d previously never had the urge to try mineral powders, I figured they were more for those who want that bare faced look with little but just enough coverage. I also thought that using a powder foundation on my dry/ combination skin sounded like the biggest makeup mistake I could make, but oh how I was very wrong.

I stumbled across the Beautiful Movements beauty brand in my local Holland and Barrett whilst doing my usual health and skincare haul. I was already on the hunt for a makeup base I could take on holiday, something that would offer buildable coverage, with-stand the heat and feel light, all whilst letting the skin breath. I figured I’d give this whole mineral malarkey a chance and took a couple swatches on my hand. The foundation smoothed over the back of my hand like silk, blended in like a second skin and matched my skin tone beautifully... I was surprisingly sold on this product!

I’ve heard mixed reviews about mineral foundations so being a fussy foundation buyer I can honestly say this has to be one of the best mineral makeup brands! So much so I contacted the Beautiful Movements brand and asked if they would like to collaborate. They were kind enough to send me samples of the Beautiful Movements concealer and bronzer, two products that will be a firm favourite in your Summer makeup bag.

My skin tone can vary between a vanilla and beige tone so I purchased two mineral powder foundations in ‘Honey Mist’ and ‘Dusk’ - both from the Velvet Dawn Collection which is based on neutral skin tones.  I tend to mix these two together depending on how much lighter or darker I need the shade. I chose the concealer in a lighter shade ‘Vanish’ so I could use it on my under eye area to brighten and as for the bronzer, it’s contouring pigment is on a ‘one shade suits all’ basis with its buildable powder.

All the products come with a twist and sieve like dispenser which is perfect as no product can escape and you can control how much you use! I typically pop the product into the lid. with a dab of the brush and a tap off the excess I apply it using the Real Techniques Powder Brush (a large long dense full face brush). The great thing about this product is that it is so easily blendable, the pigment doesn’t gather on dry areas and any patches on first application can be buffed into the skin to create a flawless finish.

To apply both the bronzer and concealer I use the Real Techniques setting brush. I typically apply my concealer first and then the foundation on top just so it lightly brightens the under eyes without looking ‘clownish’.

I’ve been recommending this brand to everyone I know as its perfect for ALL skin types (big statement but honestly true). Although it’s now stocked in your local Holland and Barrett its quite a humble brand that I believes deserves a big shout out!
