So (as of late Friday night) we've just got back from a city break away to Budapest. It was our second visit to the beautiful city and although we wanted to discover new places and get lost in the streets, we wanted to revisit our favorite hot spots and plan more activities. We used airbnb.com again to chose a home from home flat as our base camp.

Last time we visited Budapest we stayed on the 'Pest' side of the river which is more central and closer to those tourist hot spots such as the Basilica and the Hungarian Parliament Building.
This time we decided to stay in 'Buda' which is more residential side of Budapest and we were pretty much in the center of the French quarter.
Our first holiday was more spontaneous, visiting the attractions and experiencing the city itself. Our second visit had more planned, we walked the backstreets away from the centre, planned activities such as the shooting range and a room escape puzzle and revisited our favorite places to eat.

As we've been twice i thought it'd be interesting the pull together a list from both visits of our favourite places to eat, drink, see and do. I would write reviews but this blog post would be huge, so i've formed a list and a mini description, this way you guys can search anything you're interested in! Lets go:

Food Places:
New York Cafe - Claimed one of the most beautiful cafes in the world. Impressively beautiful.
Gelarto Rosa - Unusual flavored ice cream shaped like roses (so cheap too)
Burger & Love - The best burgers and skin-on fries I've ever had, served on cute wooden trays
Pad Thai Wok Bar - Tastiest noodles and rice dishes served in classic boxes
Burrita Mexican Street Kitchen - Nachos, burritos, chilli and tacos. Need a say more?
TG Italiano - Perfect 'date night' restaurant. Recommend the muscles start and duck pizza!
Eataliano - Basically a Pizza Express dupe! Really cheap and tasty.
California Coffee Company - Laid back lunch cafe. Great relaxed atmosphere. Amazing coffee.

Drink Places:
Szimpla Kert - Quirky street art filled bar with a cool atmosphere.
A38 - Restored old boat into a club/ bar/ venue. Slightly pricey but worth a trip.

Activities:
Claustrophillia - Room escape game. 4 rooms to find clues/ props to unlock the doors. Really fun!
Celeritas Shooting Club - Shoot guns pistols, revolvers & rifles. Incredible experience! Recommended.
Budapest Zoo & Botanical Gardens - Small zoo but impressive animals. Botanical gardens great lunch spot.
Erzsebet ter - Known as the 'meet up place' in Budapest. Huge park filled with bars, bands, markets and cafes (depending on whats on that day)

Cultural:
Castle Hill - Beautiful mini town in the hills. Markets and incredible buildings/ views.
St. Stephen's Basilica - Go up to the top for a 360 degree view of Budapest!
Chain Bridge - Right across the river, beautiful views night and day.
Hungarian Parliament - Impressive building. Cultural flag changing ceremony was intriguing.
Gresham Palace - Just before one of the bridges. Beautifully lit at night.
Margaret Island - Small island on the river. Popular running spot, Beautiful park with fountains.
