What's In My Handbag A/W Edition

Whilst snooping in someone hand bag is frowned upon, I’m always intrigued into the contents of what one needs or carries around with them in their everyday life. The last time I did this style post was well over a year ago and I’m pretty sure that (aside from the cluster of receipts and empty Wrigley’s packet I threw out of camera shot) I’ve kept the handbag essentials to a well-rounded amount. I think…

I’ve had this handbag for years and I always seem to pull it out every Autumn/ Winter. Considering it was a £20 EBay bargain it has stood its wear and tear ground and has lasted even longer than any of my other handbags. Now to judge the contents.

A Good Book.
I’ve actually read this book before a year ago but it’s on my top list for re-reads so I’ve dragged it back off the shelf. It’s about a woman named Christine who wakes up in a stranger's bed unable to remember how she got there. The stranger is her husband but Christine suffers from a rare form of amnesia where she can't retain memories from day to day. She stumbles across a journal where she's been recording her recollections of recent day's events beginning with the title page on which she has scrawled, "Don't Trust Ben!" From then on Christine tries to determine who she is, those missed years and what happened to her , uncovering secrets, lies and a messy conclusion.

The Body Shop Primer/ Maybelline Fit Concealer/ NARS Laguna Bronzer/ Maybelline Liquid Liner
I’ve never been one to carry around more than a handful of lipsticks when it comes to handbag makeup. But due to the typical Mancunian weather, I’ve realised I need a couple more essentials to touch up my makeup and help my skin to survive the day. I wear liquid liner practically 90% of the time even if it’s just a thin line to thicken the lashes. The Loreal Intense liquid liner is great for sticking around throughout the day but sometimes the rain and wind can be a big enemy. I like to carry a liquid liner just to touch up the corners or add a more intense line to bring my makeup from day – evening.

I’ve been prone to breakouts and although the Maybelline fit concealer is pretty darn impressive at covering those pesky blemishes without looking cakey. Makeup still clogs pores. Therefor I like to use The Body Shop Tea Tree Primer which I reviewed >here<. It contains active ingredients to aid in minimising spots. This also helps the concealer to sit better on the skin and stay put over the blemish. The NARS Laguna bronzer is a favourite in the blogger world and I’m also on board the Winter glow boat. The great thing about this bronzer is it’s natural and buildable without looking muddy, making it perfect for a touch of glow on even pale skin tones.

Lipsticks
These 3 have to be my ultimate favourites. My latest edition is the autumnal matt berry 107 shade from Kate Moss collection for Rimmel. A perfect day to evening lipstick that sticks around even after a few drinks!
The Bourjois Lip Crayon glides on beautifully leaving a glossy plump finish without drying the lip. I tend to pat a little of this on in the day to leave a natural pink/ red lip and slick on the colour at night for a bold red statement.
The Rimmel Apocalips Lacquer has all the benefits of a lip gloss (moisturising, glossy and non drying) with the beauty of a pigmented lipstick. This is my ultimate go to day time shade in Celestial. A medium rose pink with natural tones.

Thierry Mugler Alien Perfume
I reviewed this >here<. This fragrance is the perfect size for popping into my handbag or even a clutch and although it is only 15ml it’s lasted me months. It’s a deep, seductive scent with a slight sweet tone.

Wooden IPhone Case from CARVD
This quirky real wood Iphone skin is the latest accessory for my Iphone. I get bored with the same old plastic/ metal skins and this little beauty makes a nice ‘au natural’ change. I’ve named him Dugg and purchased the little fellow from a Manchester based ethical retailer named CARVD. They sell real wood Iphone skins with unique laser engraved designs drawn up from their chosen designers. The skin is applied to the Iphone using a secure strong adhesive that peels off when you fancy a change.
