Nails Inc. Gel Effect Polish - St James (*)

After seeing the finish of a gel manicure I was super excited to try this Nails Inc. Gel Effect Polish. The thick varnish is said to leave a plumping, glossy effect similar to a gel manicure but without using an UV lamps.

The brush (although looks thin) wings out and applies the product perfectly in one smooth sweep. Due to the thickness of the nail varnish I’d say you could get away with only one coat which is great if you hate waiting hours and taking your time applying polish.

I have to admit that the ‘super shiny’ finish only tended to last until it had dried and although the 'revolutionary plasticiser technology' did create a 3D finish i couldn't differentiate it from any other branded glossy polishes.

I had high hopes for this product but even with my strengthening top coat (that has never failed me before) this product started to chip after just 2 days which i put down to its thick formula. And although it did leave a plumping professional finish for a steep price of £14 there's nothing that makes this product stand out from any other typical £4 polishes. Sorry Nails Inc.

  1. I couldn't agree more! I much prefer the Barry M Jelly ones at the minute - and for 2 for £6 there's really no contest!

  2. It's really glossy but totally not worth the price. A thick coat of Seche Vite usually gives a thick-gel like finish.

  3. Oh no, thats a shame it chipped so soon. The colour is so pretty. I like the Barry M ones & think they have an excellent colour range
